WELCOME to the CDIO™ iKit

The Implementation Kit, or iKit, is an evolving set of materials that help you implement CDIO in your engineering education program. Specifically, the iKit's goal is to provide information, tools, models and templates to help programs adapt and implement CDIO, and comply with CDIO Standards. The iKit is intended for program leaders, faculty, and staff who are adapting and implementing CDIO. CDIO is based on a commonly shared premise that engineering graduates should be able to:

Conceive-design-implement-operate
Complex value-added engineering systems
In a modern team-based engineering environment

We who are implementing CDIO have adopted this as the engineering context of the undergraduate education. CDIO is not prescriptive. We offer these resources to help you. You can chose and adapt the resources to your program as you need. CDIO isn't an association of universities, it's a guiding set of goals that stretch us as educators. CDIO's goals are to do the following:

  • educate students to master a deeper working knowledge of the technical fundamentals
  • educate engineers to lead in the creation and operation of new products and systems
  • educate future researchers to understand the importance and strategic value of their work

Leading universities and programs around the world are striving towards these goals, and have made important advances from which we can all learn.

The materials contained in this iKit provide an array of resources to accelerate your adaptation of CDIO to your local national, university and disciplinary conditions. Hopefully the materials will save time, allowing you to achieve early successes, and help you to identify low cost and sustainable approaches.
