| In early 2000, The Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA and Chalmers Institute of Technology, Linköping University, and Royal Institute of Technology, all of Sweden, applied to the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation to fund a bold venture that would reshape engineering education in the USA and Europe.
